Ready for one of the best trips from the Rowery na Forum app? We hope so! This is a full-day, about 140km-long route, designed for advanced cyclists. So make sure you are well prepared beforehand. But do not worry, it is well signposted and safe.
The long-distance cycling route (no. 15) was built by the Marshal’s Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship with financial support from the European Union. It runs along former railway lines, which means there are no major hills or elevations, it is easy, pleasant and full of remarkable historic sites and beautiful views.
You can ride along the Old Railway Trail (SKS) comfortably on any type of bike, but a long-distance bike such as a trekking bike, cross-country bike, gravel bike or even a road bike will be best, as long as it is fitted with touring rather than sport tyres.
The route is being gradually extended. Currently, as we are writing about the Old Railway Trail, two new sections of it are under construction.
The first of these is the section from Karlino to Białogard - once finished, it will clearly improve comfort and reduce travel times. However, there is no chance of riding along the new section of the route this season (2023).
The second section connects the villages of Żeleźno and Wronie Gniazdo. Here, work is well advanced and it is possible that by the time you read this text, it will have already been put into use. At the time of checking the route (May 2023) it was not yet available, so the navigation will direct you along the old route (there is a section of dirt road). On this section, pay attention to the trail markings (orange directional arrows “15A”) and follow these indications.
