The monument to the great artist, whose life was linked to Białogard (he was born near Nowogródek as Czesław Wydrzycki), has been standing on the Białogard market square since 29 June 2019. The unveiling ceremony was attended by members of the Wydrzycki family. The event was held on the occasion of the fifteenth gathering of the singer’s global fans. The author of the sculpture is Artur Wochniak from Zielona Góra, the originator of its construction was Wiesław Kubasik, and the founders (the monument cost PLN 70,000) were the artist’s fans from all over the world and the Białogard town authorities. The monument is made of bronze in 1:1 scale.
Czesław Niemen lived here for a short time after his resettlement to Poland. Białogard was the home of the mother and sister of this Polish music legend - singer and composer whose songs we all know and love.
Interestingly, there is a large mural depicting the artist on the wall of the building where Czesław Niemen lived.
