Ruins of the church in the village of Strzeżenice Ruins of the church in the village of Strzeżenice

  • Address : Strzeżenice 16, 76-031 Strzeżenice

Not many people know that the village of Strzeżenice holds a big tourist attraction - the ruins of a church with an adjacent cemetery. In the past, the village was called Streitz and was the seat of an Evangelical parish. We do not have much information about this church. We know that the building survived the war in fairly good condition, but after 1945, due to looting and arson, it was almost completely destroyed and, in ruins, it fell into oblivion for a long time.

It was not until 2013, thanks to the initiative of the local residents and the support of the municipality of Będzino, that the area of the church and cemetery was cleaned up. Today we can see the preserved portal and fragments of the walls, which are highly interesting. A plaque (put up by local residents) with information on the history of the site helps visitors learn even more about its past - which is certainly encouraged!

We hope to be able to learn even more about the church and its surroundings through planned archaeological investigations.

Due to the nature of this place, please be respectful when visiting.
