The route leads to the southern regions of Koszalin, including the areas around Bonin, Manowo, Wyszewo, Osetno and Kępiste and, of course, Mostowo with its Stone Circles, which are a must-see.
The route is varied in terms of difficulty, while offering a beautiful journey through forests, meadows and charming towns. It features plenty of tarmac, gravel, forest roads and even sandy (short) climbs.
Just remember to bring some snacks, your favourite coffee in a thermos and hit the road!
Start from the Forum Koszalin shopping centre and head towards Manowo. Leave the city following the cycle path along national road No. 11, which is well known to all local cycling enthusiasts.
Pass Bonin, with a branch of the Institute of Plant Breeding and Acclimatisation - National Research Institute (commonly referred to as the “Potato Institute”). A few hundred metres further on, right next to the road, is the beautifully situated, almost exposed on a slight hill, St. Isidore’s Church.
You will reach the village of Manowo, where, if you are lucky, you will be greeted by the smell of fresh wood being cut at the local sawmill. Here, take the direction to Wyszebórz and after a while turn right. (If for some reason you’re having problems with your GPS, ask for the exit towards Wyszewo on the embankment of the old narrow-gauge railway - in its heyday this railway carried passengers as far as Bobolice).
The road to Wyszewo leads through a forest, passing a local cemetery on the way. In Wyszewo, get to the main road, turn first right and after a few dozen metres turn left. (Important! You will visit this place on the way back, so the route on your device will overlap). Head left towards the woods, with the playground on the right. Further on it’s just pure gravel pleasure!
The next point on the route is Foresters’ Park (Park Leśników) (this is about 24 km of the route). From here, follow the asphalt road. On leaving the park, turn left. You will reach the village of Karsina, which contains the ruins of a church with interesting wooden sculptures.
Continue towards Kępiste (4.8 km according to the sign), where you will see a beautifully maintained original wooden house. When leaving the village, you can enjoy a nice view of the surrounding meadows on the right.
Continuing through picturesque forests, you will reach perhaps the most famous point in the area, the Stone Circles - a Goths’ cemetery, which is an archaeological reserve. A green cycling trail runs through it.
The next point of the tour may seem inconspicuous, but it is well worth visiting. This is a clearing created by a logging operation, with several trees snapped by the wind at the edge of the clearing. Pass them on your right and make a curve, reaching the meandering River Radew.
From here, ride through the forest towards national road No. 11 in Mostowo, where you ‘hop on’ the pavement for a moment before taking the direction towards Drzewiany. After a dozen metres or so, turn left and head along national road No. 11 towards Koszalin. On the way, in Wyszewo, you will pass the Church of St. Adalbert the Bishop and Martyr. Continue through Lubiatowo to Koszalin, where the route ends at Forum Koszalin.
