The pumped storage power plant launched in 1971 and is one of the first facilities of its type in Poland. However, research on obtaining energy with the use of the Kamienne and Kwiecko lakes dates back much earlier, to the 1930s. The natural location of water reservoirs, with a level difference of about 80 m, allows for driving turbine blades and generating electricity. The lakes, approx. 1.5 km apart, are connected with each other by three steel pipelines with a diameter of 5 m. The power plant is not only an important technical facility, but also a tourist attraction - it is open to the public.
