Monument of Poland’s Wedding to the Sea
Uncovered in 1963, this modernistic monument commemorates the ceremony of Poland’s wedding to the sea which took place on March 18th, 1945.
On the beach opposite the monument, there is a mast with Poland’s national flag marking the spot where the soldiers of the 10th Infantry Regiment of the 4th Pomeranian Infantry Division conducted the ceremony.
The monument was created by Wiktor Tołkin, who also designed the Fight and Martyrdom monument in Majdanek concentration camp.
