Even though everyone visiting Mielno has probably seen it at least once, few people realize that the Deer Monument actually has historic value. It was erected in Mielno in the inter-war period to commemorate a particularly successful hunt. Over the years, the monument has changed its location and appearance multiple times. In the 1990s, it had a much larger antler which was frequently vandalised. It was originally located in the park in 1 Maja street, next to the bandshell and the historic café. Today, it can be found in front of the Town Council offices. To be in Mielno and not take a photo of the Deer Monument would be like going to Paris and missing the Eiffel Tower.
