Church of Isidore the Farmer in Bonin
A small Gothic church from the 15th century, located on a little hill (marked on maps from before World War II as “Bonin Church Hills”), next to the national road DK11 and the new bike path.
According to historical records, the church was built on the site of an older timber temple. We also know that in 1842, it was closed due to very poor technical condition of the building, and wasn’t thoroughly renovated until the years 1907 to 1910 when the Baroque Revival steeple was also added.
We recommend making a stop and taking a closer look at the building as it is one of the few remains of the Pomeranian family of Bonin (von Bonin).
Between 1953 and 1979, the temple was used as a coffee bar club (in the meantime, the church cemetery was liquidated).
The building was re-consecrated as a church on September 9th, 1979.
