Bałtycki Teatr Dramatyczny im. Juliusza Słowackiego (Juliiusz Słowacki Baltic Theatre) is one of the largest theatres in Central Pomerania. Founded in 1953, its first première was Aleksander Fredro’s seminal play Maiden’s Vows. In 1958, the theatre moved to the former house of prayer of the local Protestant community. The building, originating from 1906, was rebuilt in classic Baroque Revival style which gave it a monumental and somewhat ascetic appearance. Aside from theatrical performances, Bałtycki Teatr Dramatyczny also hosts the Koszalińskie Konfrontacje Młodych “m-teatr” festival.
